Nogales HDD Project – Episode 1

Drilling Under the U.S./Mexico Border

Core Media Solutions is getting ready for a unique bore in Nogales, Arizona. The job will take them underneath the U.S./Mexico border wall, allowing the crew to complete the underground installation without disturbing the obstacle above.

In Episode 1 of this three part series, we follow Joe and the crew through the setup and everything that goes into getting ready for the bore. The crew is putting a new drill to work in the field for the first time.

With a new drill, a high profile location and a bore underneath the border wall ahead of them, the crew doesn’t want drilling fluid problems added to the list. They’re using DrilRite products in the mud tank to help keep the drilling fluid where it needs to be as they prepare to get underground.

The Nogales project is a good example of what horizontal directional drilling was built to do. When there’s something above ground that can’t be disturbed, HDD gives crews a way to get underneath it and keep the job moving.
